The majority of StageOne classes and performances are held at The Open Stage, a fully operating theatre on the campus of Hagley College.

Developed in 1998 the theatre has a seating capacity of 100 and the intimate space hosts a number of theatre, dance and music events throughout the year. An enclosed studio is attached and the space serves as a home for the fulltime programme for adult students, Hagley Theatre Company.

The theatre recently underwent a renovation thanks to financial support from the Canterbury Community Trust and Hagley College. New seating was installed and will soon be followed by a refit of the public bathrooms and kitchen.

In addition to our own theatre StageOne students will also take advantage of various Hagley College facilities such as the film and TV suite, drama room and purpose built dance studio. Ample parking is provided onsite.

While there is a heavy performance schedule in place The Open Stage is available for hire at a reasonable rate. In the past the venue has been used for

• conferences and workshops
• theatre rehearsal venue
• wedding ceremonies and receptions
• independent performance seasons
• private functions
